Airsoft or Survival Game - Terminology Explanation 生存遊戲 - 專業術語說明

F.P.S stands for Feet Per Second, the velocity of the BB pallet as it leaves the barrel.

Fully Automatic means when the trigger is depressed and held the gun will keep firing until the trigger is released.

Semi Automatic means that each pull the trigger the gun, will fire once.

Blow Back is the action on a Gas or Electric gun means the slide of the gun will recoil when the gun is fired like an real firearm.

Airsoft Gun could be divided into 3 major groups by supplied powers:

1. Spring powered

2. Gas powered

3. Electric powered

Spring powered airsoft gun is a single-shot devices that use potential energy stored in a spring to launch an airsoft pellet down the barrel of the gun.  The user must cock a spring gun prior to each shot, just like you would do for a real shotgun or bolt action rifle.  This is typically achieved by pulling back the slide of pistols or bolt of rifles that compresses the spring and makes the gun ready to fire.

Gas powered airsoft gun uses pressurized gas to propel BB pellets. The gun is capable of Automatic & Semi-automatic operation. The most common gases used are propane(Green Gas) and HFC134a refrigerant.  Other commonly used gases include CO2 and nitrogen.

Gas power tends to be used in airsoft pistols where size constraints make electric-powered mechanisms impractical. Other instances where gas is favored are where adjustable velocities are required or where a blow-back feature is desired.

Electric powered airsoft gun is usually using rechargeable batteries, a motor runs a gear box that compresses a cylinder compressing air which cycles an internal piston/spring assembly in order to launch BB pellet. Automatic and Semi-automatic operation are all possible which gives the gun the popular name Automatic Electric Gun(A.E.G).

C.Q.C stands for Close Quarters Combat or C.Q.B stands for Close Quarters Battle.

Both are type of warfare in which small units or teams engage the enemy with personal weapons at very short range.

Muzzle velocity is the speed a projectile has at the moment it leaves the muzzle of the gun.
